Background information
After her win in Kadima’s internal elections, foreign minister Tzipi Livni was officially asked by president Peres of Israel to form a government. If she fails, polls predict an electoral victory for the right-wing Likud party. Livni’s effort is therefore seen as pivotal for Israels future and the future of the peace process with both the Palestinians and Syria.
