the odd thing is neither the conservatives nor labour particularly inspire confidence. Grammar schools, constitutions, and bashing terrorists seemed to have combined to give GB the advantage this month.

Agreed – I am not inspired. I do think however, you never vote a party in (they are all as bad as each other). You vote a party out. By exercising that right, they try to stay relatively accountable.
